To find your belt size, add two inches to your pants waist size. If you wear a 34 waist, order a 36 belt. If you don't know your waist size, or you fall between sizes, use the chart and measuring tips below.

Belts do not always match pants or dress sizes exactly. Start with the add-two-inches rule, then measure if you wear the belt higher on your waist or need a custom fit.
Belt sizes for men
For men's belts, take your pants waist size and add two inches. If your waist size is 38, your belt size is 40.
Belt sizes for women
Women's pants sizes (0, 2, 4, and so on) do not map directly to inches, so the add-two-inches rule works only after you know the waist measurement. The reliable method is to measure: thread a soft tape measure through the belt loops of well-fitting pants, snug but not tight, and round up to the nearest even inch. That number is your belt size. You can also measure a belt you already wear, from where the buckle attaches to the hole you use most.

Measuring belt size with a tape measure
If you don't know your pant size, you can also determine your belt size with a tape measure:
- Wear a pair of well-fitting pants and stand comfortably.
- Thread a soft tape measure through the belt loops, keeping it snug but not tight.
- Record the measurement, then round up to the nearest even inch. This is your belt size.
Your belt size might differ depending on where you plan to wear it on your torso. If you want a belt that sits higher on your waist, measure that area instead.
